Finally have a working stove...

Jason and I went out to the lake today and the weather was perfect. Good thing too cause Jason was death bed sick this morning and I had to take him to the lake to find a cure.

First thing we ripped and routed nearly a dozen pieces of trim for him to stain while I tackled my first ever circuit breaker wiring job which was 220 to a stove/range.

Here is the finished outlet box. Let me tell you that SER #6 AWG four conductor wire is tough as hell. Thick as a pencil, the braided strand just won't bend easily. It's installed on a stud in a metal electrical box with armored conduit.

The other end was a lot more trouble. The 50 amp breaker bought this morning didn't fit our circuit panel and we were stuck. Then I remembered the sub panel removed during our Army of God electricians work done in the early days and found it had a 40 amp breaker which fit perfectly.

I have.never installed a breaker before, certainly not a 220 one but it went smoothly and fairly easily. Investing hundreds of hours reading about electrical installation helped. Here is the newly installed breaker and the wiring. Note how thick the cabling is.

And proof of a working range....

Here is Jason painting ( staining) the trim. Despite my elaborate and specific instructions and coaching, somehow he converted the message of staining into painting. He used nearly a court of stain on these 10 boards painting them almost black. They are completely unusable.

we may be able to salvage them by flipping each over and routing the other side. At least we hope so...
