The day we almost became a toeless family...

Early evening on July 4th we completed the dock.  1463 pounds of treated wood, nails, ties, joist hangers, barrrels and strapping.

Lining up on the side away from the lake, Andrew, John, Katie, Nathan, Jason, Deb and I tried to raise and then flip this monster.

We failed.

We got up to my shouldes and hard as we tried - couldn't get it any higher.  As we began to come down Jason slipped and fell and his loss forced us to drop it quickly.  I looked down the line of us, starting with my own feet and saw everyone's toes just inches from the dock's leading board.

No one was hurt but it was very close, too close.  We are renting a backhoe to flip this now.

Phew.
