Progress!

Finally the porch deck is, for all intents and purposes, finished! Sure there is some finishing to do but the joists are stretched, the deck boards down, and the balusters and railing up. And it all looks fabulous! (Never. Never have I ever used that gay sounding term in my life, but baby, this deck is nothing but fabulous!

A crew of Nathan and John, led by Amazon Katie, removed both debris piles (which have beIen a source of constant irritation for me) and Deb nailed down a bunch of front deck boards.

Michael A. and Nathan completed the railing and balusters and did a great job. Scaffolding proved as useful as we had hoped. Michael (Ballin') A. humped a 10 foot railroad tie weighing a conservative 250 pounds up onto the scaffold.

I finished connecting our water pipes and we now have a consistent supply, more or less. Turning on the water revealed leaks down below but at least we know there are leaks.

Kids picked up a great couch Deb found on craigslist and man-handled (a poke at Katie) it into the living room and just like that!, we have our first piece of furniture in the lake house!

Nearly finished, Deb, John and I on the porch deck
