And the work begins....

Buying a new commercial grade weed eater, I loaded up the lawnmower into the trailer and headed out to the property.  Mowed the front yard and knocked down some of the weeds.  Hot, sweaty and tiring work, it was exhilirating knowing this was ours, that we owned it.

Later in the afternoon everyone went out and we made some very decent progress.  The kids worked on the yard, trimming weeds, mowing, moving fallen branches and other debris.  Jason and I tore down some of the ceiling and Deb worked in the back bedroom picking up and clearing.  I fought my way into the garage and opened one of the two doors and found comparitively less mess there than expected.  Some things are useful too, a workbench, tables and an entire pallet of carpet tiles.

We took pics of Katie single handedly attacking the jungle and of Mike berserking with a machete as he screamed "I don't want to do this".

For about two hours work we got an incredible amount of work done and we are getting solid glimpses of what the home's possibilities can be...

Mike found the perfect hammock spot and has demanded free rein to create a "perfect" site for it.

Next:   Hampered somewhat by Susan's stuff which she is slowly pulling out of the home, we will continue to pull down the ceiling, remove trash and "bad" wood and work our way through room by room.  Outside we will continue to clear and slash.   Katie cut a path to the dock and I want to go down and take a solid look at it.

Other priorities are getting a dumpster for all the debris, Getting an electrician to hook up the power.  Running the pump in the cistern to do a septic test with the purple pills Deb got.  Lights will mean being able to work longer and at night and being able to use fans....Hell power would mean a fridge to keep drinks cold...  Need to bring the little fridge out....
