Saturday and it was Hot! Hot! Hot!

We went out today after I got off work at four and worked on the 10 x 4 concrete pad in the front courtyard. Part one of two ten foot slabs, together they will make the walkway entrance to the house.

We mixed our own concrete using Portland cement, sand and gravel - something I haven't done before,always relying on pre mixed bags. Doing our own was easy enough and the cost savings turned out to significant; instead of $200 for bagged remixed concrete, our cost was close to $50.

If we find the pad tomorrow looking as great as we think it will, there will be a lot more concrete projects around the hose.
